Design and Implementation of LCL Filter-Based Electric Machine Emulator With Disturbance Compensation

The electric machine emulator (EME), using digital simulation and power electronics to emulate the characteristics of actual machines, can greatly accelerate testing drives. However, most existing EMEs are based on typical L filter linear controller, which causes control conflicts bandwidth limitation. To address this issue, paper presents an EME LCL with passive damping for a three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor. improve dynamic emulating accuracy, dual closed-loop deadbeat predictive current algorithm is proposed, computationally efficient easy implement. system stability analyzed in discrete domain, parameter constraints obtained. Then, two unknown input observers designed compensate disturbance currents voltages caused by modeling errors. Moreover, instead empirical method, theoretical one considering harmonic suppression, bandwidth, resonance presented design. Finally, performance proposed validated through experimental results under various conditions such as start-up, torque step change, speed reversal.
